Basic terminology, historical overview, classification. Digital computer structure a function. Major elements: processor, memory and peripheral devices. Interrupt subsystem, data bus. Communication, computer networks and industrial computer networks. Computer control systems: single-chip computers, personal computers and industrial computer systems. Data acquisition systems. Distributed control systems and their topology.
