Detector and locator of fault events in electrical networks
The software allows online monitoring, detection and localization of fault events in electrical networks on the basis of a data (voltage phasors or current phasors) measured by phasor measurement units (so-called PMU) at both ends of the monitored power lines. Instrumentation in form of phasor measurement units is necessary, because of this units are time-synchronized. It minimizes the error of unsynchronoused measurement. From the viewpoint of a locator accuracy is sampling frequency fundamental. The higher sampling rate of PMU units makes an error of localization smaller.
The software module "Detector and locator of fault events in electrical networks" downloads the configuration file with the values required for application configuration immediately after launching. Then the software downloads information about the monitored power lines and phasor measurement units, fitted on both ends of monitored power lines. Then, the software runs in the background and is called by event. An event is each non standard state. On the detector is then to decide, whether a fault event occured. In case the event is detected, the locator is called and it determines distance to fault from the both ends of the monitored power line.
