Abstract

The paper deals with several new similarities between frequency domain, optimal and newly introduced asymptotic filtering. An asymptotic filter is proposed in such a way that error invariance and error convergence properties are held. The parametrization of the filter is based on a signal power balance relation. It is shown in the paper that the proposed asymptotic filter corresponds to the well known optimal Kalman-Bucy filter as well as to low pass frequency filters of various degrees by introducing output filtering error signal energy as an optimality criterion.
