Abstract

Image segmentation is one of the basic image processing task that is involved in almost every computer vision system. One of the way to classify the image segmentation methods is based on amount of interaction provided by a user. The interactive methods benefit from the interaction which provides valuable information about a segmentation problem. The automatic methods does not incorporate such an interaction and that makes them less precise in most applications. On the other hand, a sophisticated preprocessing can compete with user initialization. In this paper an alternative to user initialization is presented. This method is based on shortest path basins.
