Abstract

This paper deals with temperature control of heating/cooling processes. From the control point of view it is important that such processes belong to a class of assymetrical non-linear systems and it is why commonly used PID controllers achieve a very limited performance. Firstly, the paper shortly presents recently developed sliding mode temperature controller. The optimization based procedure is developed for this purpose and several illustrating examples are given.
